Meet Nolan Malbeuf.

The Journey

Born and raised in the North, Nolan comes from a Cree-speaking family and community rooted in rich Métis heritage. Today, he lives in Regina, Saskatchewan, with his beautiful wife and four daughters.

Nolan is an award-winning, travelling tattoo artist whose distinctive and recognizable style has taken him across Canada. His work is deeply connected to his identity, lived experience, and relationship with community. He is an active and respected member of the Indigenous tattooing community.

Before pursuing tattooing full-time, Nolan earned a degree in Education and taught for 15 years. For 14 of those years, he taught at an agency that supports apprehended youth. It was during these years that Nolan developed and refined his speaking style.  His years as an educator continue to shape the way he connects with people, creating spaces grounded in trust, respect, understanding, and care.

At the centre of Nolan’s life is a profound love for people and community. He is guided by the Nehiyaw principle of Wahkohtowin, which states that we not only belong to one another, but that we are responsible for each other.

Nolan struggled with addiction for over 25 years before entering recovery in September 2022, since then, Nolan has become a strong advocate for inner healing, personal growth, and recovery. His own journey is one of resilience, determination, and transformation.

Nolan began telling his story shortly after getting sober.. He has spoken at a variety of gatherings to a variety of audiences across Saskatchewan and Canada. He is passionate about encouraging others.  He knows that it is possible to live a better life, outside of addiction, suffering, and shame. As an intergenerational survivor of residential school, he understands the rippling effect of healing and change, and that every change we make is generational.
